How Holistic Nutritionists and FNTPs Can Share Expertise and Build Trust Online
As holistic nutritionists and Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioners (FNTPs), we're not just here to preach the benefits of eating and living well (although those are pretty awesome). We're here to make a real and lasting difference in people's lives.
So, you might be wondering, why is sharing valuable content so important in our line of work? Well, let me tell you, it's like the secret sauce to building a thriving wellness business. You see, in a world bombarded with fad diets and quick-fix solutions (have you seen all of these crazes on Instagram? It’s bananas!) , people are craving authenticity and genuine expertise. They want to connect with someone who truly understands their struggles and can offer meaningful solutions. They don’t want to just spend money on “another” supplement and not see any answers or healing.
That's where you come in! By sharing your knowledge and experiences, you're not just building a brand – you're building trust. And trust, my friend, is the cornerstone of any successful business. Without trust what do we really have?
Now, I know what you're thinking – "But how do I even begin to share my expertise in a meaningful way?" Don't worry, I've got you covered. Let's break it down, shall we?
First things first, let's talk about social media. It’s changed a lot over the past several years. Truthfully, it’s not my favorite place to tell you to be. As a busy mama and an FNTP myself, I’ve come to realize what things make my nervous system feel out of whack, and the constant changes and scrolling definitely makes me feel wonky. However, it's can also be a powerful tool, to get your message out there, but only if you do it the right way. Let’s talk strategy for that:
Choose Your Platforms Wisely: Identify the social media platforms where your target audience spends the most time. Whether it's Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, etc. focus your efforts where they'll have the most impact. Personally I wouldn’t focus on more than 2 of these options and Pinterest is a top one for me. I’ll share more about why I love Pinterest so much later, but honestly, you have great content for that platform and your reach can be SO much greater (and it’s much kinder to your nervous system, might I add).
Craft Compelling Content: What to share will vary depending on who you are talking, but generally sharing snippets of wisdom via video, healthy and fun recipes, and behind-the-scenes glimpses into your holistic approach to wellness are big hits. Remember, it's not just about quantity – it's about quality. Take the time to craft thoughtful captions, engage with your audience, and provide value with every post. I don’t recommend posting more than 3 times a week on your feed. More than that can be absolutely overwhelming.
Now, let’s chat briefly about other places I think you HAVE to be these days. And the content you build for these, can trickle over to Pinterest, Instagram, Podcasts and more. Here's how you can leverage other online channels:
Start a Blog: They are NOT dead, ok? If you think about building up YOUR own website more, having a page of great resources for your client to check out is like gold. Dive deep into topics that matter to your audience. From debunking common nutrition myths to exploring the latest wellness trends, the possibilities are endless. And who knows, your blog might just become the go-to resource for health-conscious folks everywhere.
Send Newsletters: If you don’t have a newsletter list yet, what are you doing friend? Create an opt-in that your ideal client would love to have and use that to get emails for newsletter content. Use newsletters to stay connected, share exclusive content, and keep them in the loop about upcoming events or promotions. Trust me, there's something special about popping up in someone's inbox amidst the sea of promotional emails and spam.
And let's not forget about the power of storytelling. As humans, we're hardwired to connect with stories on a deep, emotional level. So why not weave your own personal stories into your content?I’m sure you have a story about WHY you got into the health & wellness business. Share your own struggles and triumphs, and watch as your audience resonates with your authenticity.
It’s important to remember that actions truly do speak louder than words. So go ahead, share your knowledge, spread your passion, and watch as your wellness business flourishes like never before. The world is waiting for your unique brand and thoughts in this endless sea of content. Make yours count!
